In this lesson we will learn Numbers in Korean. There are two number systems in Korean and it can be really confusing in the beginning but you will get used to it quickly.

The two number systems are – 1. Native Korean Numbers and 2. Sino-Korean Numbers.

The Sino Korean numbers are derived from Chinese system.

Both number systems have different usage. For counting people and things generally native Korean numbers are used (한 명, 두 개 etc.)but these numbers are only upto 100. For large numbers Sino Korean numbers are used. When telling time we use native Korean numbers for hour and Sino Korean for minutes. For telling age also we use native Korean numbers. For telling dates, month, year, phone number, amount etc, we use Sino Korean numbers.
